I support supervisees as professionals and accommodate their professional needs while being flexible with scheduling and fees

Are you looking for professional growth, new skills, supportive feedback, and hours towards your clinical licensure?
Let me help!

I am an approved clinical supervisor (ACS), Center for Credentialing and Education, certification # 2295. I have more than ten years of experience of providing clinical supervision to LPC candidates. I work in a relatively semi structured way and allow practitioners to bring issues and topics that meet their needs while keeping in mind and meeting the rigorous Pennsylvania licensure requirements as set forth by the Department of State.

My approach to supervision follows the Developmental Model. I adjust my supervision techniques and interventions to the level of expertise of the supervisee and allow these to change over time as the supervisee grows and learns. I aim to support and spur that growth while assuring client and therapist safety. I also aim for a strengths-based focus to support and encourage my supervisees in their growth, and to point out the skills and the positive qualities that it is very easy for them to overlook in their own work. I work hard to build a strong working relationship with my supervisees, encouraging them to address and process the dynamics between us in supervision as well as their own clinical work and pointing out examples of parallel process when it arises.

I use a balance of roles in my supervision, coming primarily from teaching with a secondary use of the counselor role in my work with supervisees.  My supervision techniques include modeling, role play, and tuning in to the supervisee’s self-talk. I also incorporate aspects of narrative therapy including metaphors, and helping the supervisees to come up with a story of who they are as new professionals. I also use a reflective model of supervision whether in individual supervision, group supervision, or tape review.

I use several tools in evaluating the supervisee’s abilities such as:

·       Discussion of strengths and weaknesses over time

·       Review of case notes

·       Case presentations

·       Self-assessment tools

·       Therapist Evaluation Checklists

·       Observation of sessions, when feasible

My primary goal in clinical supervision is to ensure the effective and ethical treatment of clients while fostering the personal health and professional development of supervisees. I make an effort to support supervisees as professionals in all aspects of their work while being flexible with scheduling and fees.
